So proud to be American, I’m gonna shoot my eye out!

It’s that time of year when we Americans celebrate our nation’s independence. A time to be proud to call yourself an American… or is it?
Should we really be proud that we celebrate our nation’s independence by blowing things up? We teach our children from an early age that this is fun then act horrified when some teenager accidentally loses an eye or a testicle while playing with fireworks. That’s something to be proud of, isn’t it?
