Slop Culture

These are tough times and there is little be excited about when it comes to money. The world’s economy is pretty much going to hell and it’s probably only a matter of hours before we are all using Yuan to buy our over-inflated groceries. Following news on the economy on cnn.com lately has been on par with following a teenage girls Facebook status updates with all the emotional turmoil of a cancelled CW melodrama.

“OMG! If we don’t raise the debt ceiling the world will be over!!!”

“OMG! Like, what’s up wit you guyz??? We NEEEEEEED to raise the debt ceiling!!!”

“OMG! Mike told Jenna that Joe and Jimmy said that you would raise the debt ceiling then you didn’t!!! Haterz!!!”

“OMG!! tmi with the ongoing talks. That’s private. GAWD!!

“We passed it! Yay!!! Lol ”

“WTF you guyz. You said you wouldn’t lower our credit rating then you did. WTF!!!”

“OMG!!! The stock market is crashing. It fell, like, 600 points. It’s just not fair!!! :/ ”

“Like, OMG! The stock market is totally rebounding. Like, 400 points!”

“OMG lol. It’s crashing again!!!”

“Lol. It’s OK. It’s going up again.”

“OMG. It’s crashing AGAIN!!! OMG!!

It’s actually kind of funny when you stop crying long enough to think about it. The silver linking here is that I don’t have to watch any bad CW melodramas anymore in order to add spice and excitement to my life when CNN is available 24 hours a day.
