It’s actually kind of funny when you stop crying long enough to think about it. The silver linking here is that I don’t have to watch any bad CW melodramas anymore in order to add spice and excitement to my life when CNN is available 24 hours a day.

Three years later, it seems to be more about her mother than it is about the girl.

Today Casey Anthony, Caylee’s mother, was acquitted of murder and child abuse in the little girl’s death. This trial has sensationalized something that is not sensational. If half the items reported by the defense during the trial are true then this is nothing but a sad expose of a very dysfunctional family. But it is not something we should be oggling all over the news.

The comments that have been made all over the internet after the announcement of Casey Anthony’s acquittal really show just how desperate people are to find slop anywhere they can. A little girl died and her family has to go on living after years of being drug through the mud. Slop indeed.

Should we really be proud that we celebrate our nation’s independence by blowing things up? We teach our children from an early age that this is fun then act horrified when some teenager accidentally loses an eye or a testicle while playing with fireworks. That’s something to be proud of, isn’t it?
